Greenwoods is one of the oldest truck-mounted tree spade and large tree services in North America. Greenwoods has been in operation since 1985. We have our own nursery as well as relationships with wholesale tree growers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and have access to 2,000 acres of large tree nursery stock. Greenwoods install shade trees, flowering trees, large evergreens, ornamental trees, specimen trees and shrubs for all types of landscape configurations. And we provide tree transplanting services both onsite and over-the-road. Our staff has extensive landscaping and large tree industry experience. We work with both residential and professional clients such as landscape contractors, designers, architects, corporations, golf courses, parks, schools, hospitals, shopping centers, industrial parks and more!

Greenwoods operates a fleet of specially designed trucks to economically transplant large, mature trees. The trucks, equipped with mechanical spades, can transplant trees up to 40 feet tall on site depending on species. The average weight of these trees with soil surround is 12,000 pounds, and the trunks can range up to 12 - 14" inches in diameter, again depending on species. Greenwoods will advise best case for survivability on the trees you wish to transplant, based on Greenwoods' years of experience in transplanting thousands of trees. Greenwoods can also transplant large trees via crane.

Shipping trees or transplanting out of state:

Greenwoods can provide large trees for you delivered via tractor trailer to select areas in the Midlantic and Northeast where large trees are in demand. Shipping large trees involves hand-digging or spading/basketing the large trees, loading and hauling via tractor trailer, plus offloading and planting in your location. Greenwoods can provide complete installation services on larger projects, but in most cases, you must contract with other service providers to have the large treesoffloaded and planted at your location. Greenwoods will also ship large shrubs or commingle shipments of nursery stock trees and shrubs. This service is recommended for professional contractors or larger projects only, not for individual or smaller residential projects unless a very generous budget exists.

Greenwoods can send one truck-mounted tree spade or our entire fleet to work on tree transplanting projects out of our general service area. Greenwoods regularly performs tree moving projects in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland and will also travel to other regions as long as the client who contracts for this service pays for the equipment to travel to the location as well as return and pay for the crew accommodations and per diem while the crew is working on their project.
